During my year of study at Rubika France (2016) I joined a team of 5 to participate in the Imagine Cup game development competition. For its first phase we had to submit a PowerPoint presentation for a concept we wished to build from in the next phases. We called ours "Beasts". The team was composed of two designers, two game artists and one game programmer. My main responsibility was the level design.
From the 21th of october to the 20th of december 2018 I studied in a course called Instructional Design and Technology: Learning Theories (LDT100x) on the elearning platform edx.org. It is a course produced by the University System of Maryland and its elearning initiative USMx.
At the end of the course I was provided with a certificate of achievement certifying that I received a passing grade.
Course Syllabus :
Week 1: Your Learning Environment
Week 2: Learning Theory: Behaviorism
Week 3: Learning Theory: Constructivism
Week 4: Learning Theory: Cognitivism & Connectivism
Week 5: Learning Theory: Andragogy
Week 6: Complex Learning Theories: Authentic Assessment, Experiential Learning & Project Based Learning
Week 7: Complex Learning Theories: Service Learning & Gamification
Week 8: Technology’s Role in Learning
I was interested in finding more about how people learn because it is such an important part of games and that was exactly what this course was focusing on. Each week we explored one or two unique approaches to learning, mostly through the work of different psychologists such as J.Piaget, B.F Skinner, J.Bruner etc.
